She was predeceased by: her grandmother Etta Stephens (Burchett); her parents, Ada Stephens and Flowron Locke; and her siblings, Evelina McDavid, Philip Burton, Elwood Lock and Richard Lock.

She is survived by: her husband James G. "Jim" Shepherd; her siblings, Geneva Taggi of Lima, Ohio, Joyce A. Davis of Grayson, Kentucky, Vernetta L. Stephens of Grayson, Kentucky, Sharon Morrison of Columbia and Ronald "Ronnie" Burton of Celina, Tennessee.; her daughters, Debora McGillvary, Robin (Jerry Williams) and Beavercreek; her grandchildren, James Lewis (Victoria), Rick McGillvary and Dr. Chelsey M. Williams (Eric J. Lucas); and her great grandchildren, Sophia Lewis and Jackson Lewis. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, and many other loving family members and friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Tobias Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel (3970 Dayton Xenia Rd, Dayton, OH 45432). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
