He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Dewey and Carma Burks (Holbrook); his wife Arzola Burks (Smith); his son Ronnie Wayne Burks; and his sisters, Zelda, Mandy, Wilda and Myrtle.
He is survived by: his children, Myra Ball (Mike), Nancy Smith (Dennis) and Barry Burks (Diane). He is also survived by five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
