He was predeceased by: his parents, Reverend Claude Butler and Evelyn Butler; and his sister Deanda Butler. He is survived by: his wife Carrie Butler; his children, Lisa Newby-Neace (Scott Robinson) and John Michael "Mike" Newby (Karen Haberman); and his granddaughter Taylor Skerl (Zach). He is also survived by friends and special neighbors.
