He was predeceased by: his parents, Elwood Eakes and Viola Eakes; and his siblings, Harold Eakes and Helen. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Eakes (Edwards); his children, John Eakes (Tracey) and Tina Denlinger (Kirk); his grandchildren, Zach, Cody and Alexis Eakes; and his sister Judy Guess. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society.
