He was predeceased by: his parents, Hewie Carpenter and Ercel Carpenter; his stepmother Ida Carpenter; his siblings, Rosie Boggs, Floyd Carpenter, Jasper Carpenter, Dolores McIntosh, Ellen Lamb and Harold Carpenter; and his sons, Thurman K. Carpenter Jr. and Jimmie Ray Carpenter.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra "Sandi" Carpenter (Cox); his children, Leslie Engle (Roger), Trina Fugate (Steve) and Steven Carpenter; his grandchildren, Tyler, Tanner, Grace, Dalton, Holden and Carson; his great grandchildren, Selena, Bella and Zayden; and his siblings, Raymond Carpenter, Jack Carpenter, Teresa Allen (Phillip), Charles Carpenter (Brenda), Billy Joe Carpenter (Debbie), Bentley Carpenter, Sue Gadd, Kay Alexander (Randy), Reba Bussell and Irene Barrett (Danny). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
