It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Russell Schmittgen of Elyria, Ohio, who passed away on October 27, 2022, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Schmittgen and Ann Schmittgen; his sister Nancy Hopper; his nephew Jay Newell; and his brother-in-law Tom Newell.
He is survived by: his sister Lynn Newell of Elyria; his brother-in-law Len Hopper of Larkspur, CO; his nephew Patrick Newell (Sherry) of North Ridgeville; his nieces, Ann Hamker (Rich) of Oberlin, Stacy Carroll (Peter) of Bethel, WA and Stephanie Hopper of Denver, CO; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Kale Hamker, Jacob Carroll, Cassadi Newell and Madilyn Carroll.
