He was predeceased by: his daughter-in-law Myrtle; and his siblings, Mary, Edna, Silverine, Cecil and Charles.

He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Flagg; his sons, Henry Louis (Cookie), Melvin Otis (Audrey) of Elyria, Ohio, Ray Van (Josephine) of Southfield, MI and Jerry Lee of Cleveland, Ohio; and his foster son Frank Finch (Sherry) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
