He was predeceased by: his parents, Forrest Peter "Pete" Gauntner and Genevieve Patricia Gauntner (Dottore). He is survived by: his brother Anthony J. Gauntner of Louisville, KY; and his nieces and nephews, Andrew (Julie) of Mentor, Katherine "Katie" of Avon, Patricia "Tricia" of Avon, Cramer and Slovikovski.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Elyria Catholic High School's Panther Fund in his honor.
