John left this world on February 7, 2025 at the age of 91, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherwood and Quellie; and his siblings, Gladia Thacker, Shirley Milligan, Bruce and Lon Blackburn.
He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Marvell; his son John C. Blackburn, Jr.; and his grandchildren, Dana, John, Anna, Craig, Erin, Vanessa, Francesca, Sean, Rachel and Correy. He is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home (38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd, Elyria, OH 44035). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A prayer was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at 9:00 AM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church (41295 N Ridge Rd, Elyria, OH 44035).
