He is survived by: his wife Gladys; his children, Kelly Mencke (David) of Elyria, Mary Toth (Terry) of Grafton and Timothy Piatt of Elyria; and his siblings, Billy Piatt of Avon, Judy Pelfrey of Tennessee and Dorothy Thomas of Elyria. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren.
