He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude J. Downing and Esther Downing (Lang); his wife Margaret "Peg" Downing; and his siblings, Shirley Pasta, Carol Bowens and Claudette Church.
He is survived by: his sons, James Downing and Adam Downing (Shirley); and his granddaughter Annabelle. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a Veterans Memorial in Claude's honor.
