He was predeceased by: his grandson Alexander Potoczak; his parents, John and Suzanne; and his siblings, Helen Lockhart, Margaret Mihalik, Mary Wilhelm, Elizabeth Merrill, Martha A. Ciesla, John Maholic, Steven Mihalik, Joseph Mihalik, Thomas Mihalik, Andrew Mihalik and William Mihalik.

He is survived by: his wife Luceda M.; his children, Dr. Karen Mihalik-Potoczak (Douglas Potoczak) of Avon Lake, Sharon L. Kauffman of Acworth, GA and John B. Mihalik (Michelle) of Sheffield Lake; his grandchildren, Eric Mihalik (Brooke), Brian Mihalik, Samantha Potoczak Lindsay (Scott), Kristina Kauffman, Kate Mihalik (Luke Raley) and Katlyn Kauffman; and his great grandchild Alexandra Lindsay.

The family suggests that memorial contributions in Al's memory be sent to St. Jude Church, Hospice of Western Reserve 17876 St. Clair Ave. Cleveland, Ohio 44110 or USS Cleveland Legacy Foundation at usscleveland.org.
