He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Schlievert and Laura Schlievert (Epling); his son-in-law David Gerwin; his brothers-in-law, Lawrence Gruetter and Darryl Fondessy; and also Akiko Ota.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Fondessy of Elmore; his children, Michael Schlievert (Mary) of Elmore, OH and Lisa Gerwin of Bradner, OH; his grandchildren, Samuel Schlievert (Caitlin Crabill), Alyssa Gerwin (Andy Cramer), Jane Augustin (Wallen) and Nathan Gerwin (Riley); his great grandchild Lyla Gerwin; his siblings, Warren Schlievert (Rosemary) of Perrysburg, OH, Elaine Gruetter of Curtice, OH and Susan Hatcher of Allen Park, MI; and his sister-in-law Sue Fondessy of Genoa, OH. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews (especially Pest).
