He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Schmitt and Ruth Anderson Schmitt; and his brother Paul Schmitt (Janie). He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Beth" Wolfe Schmitt; his children, Lisa Anne Gann (Chris) of Gadsden, Samuel Ross Schmitt (Kimberly) of Albers, Kevin Paul Schmitt (Joanna) of Boardman and Amy Beth Kavanagh (Brian) of Columbiana; and his siblings, Gary Schmitt (Sonja) of Dania Beach, Robin Keough (John) of Buckhannon, Colleen Waggle (Fred) of East Liverpool, Valerie Shifferly (Jim) and Stephanie Sevy (Keith). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
