He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene C. Simmons, Sr. and Katie Simmons (Solomon); his wife Phyllis Jenrett-Simmons; his children, Eugene C. Simmons, III (Bug) and Charlene Simmons; his son-in-law Roderick Alston, II; his siblings, Tommie Simmons, I, Roosevelt Simmons, Sr., Helen Simmons and Betty Faison; his grandson Lindsay Thompkins, II; and his great grandchild Marlee Thompkins.
He is survived by: his brothers-in-law, John Carr, Cleotis Cary, John "Smokey" Moore, George Welch, Sr., John Jackson, Jr., Robert Jackson, Sr., Charles Jackson, Sr., Larry Jackson and James Jackson; his daughters, Sharon Walker of Atlanta, GA, Lisa Moore of Aliquippa, PA, Regina Simmons of Detroit, MI and Luci Alston of Ambridge, PA; his daughter-in-law Maria Simmons of Dallas, TX; his son Ernest Jenrett, Jr. (June-Bug); and his sisters, Lena Moore (Great Mills, MD), Mary Carr, Evie Cary, Janice (Leroy), Williams, Barbara (Otha), Jordan of Detroit, MI and Elaine Wormsley of Cleveland, OH. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
