He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry W. Berger and Margaret E. Berger; his stepfather Vincent Grossi; his niece Jill Gannon; his sister Mary Russell (David); and his aunt Caroline Olsen (Walter).

He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his son Timothy (Laurajane); his grandchildren, Zane, Elizabeth and Riece Burger; his siblings, Margaret Stein (George), Leslie Stewart (Donnie Pfister), Anthony Gianninoto (Brenda) and Eric (Leslie); and his siblings-in-law, Patricia Schwab (Jerome) and Randy Williams. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, October 12th 2024 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church (3500 Main St, Hilliard, OH 43026). A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 12th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
