He was predeceased by: his son Dean; his wife Clara; his sister Joyce Richards; and his parents, Alva "Doc" and Aly "Polly" Richards (Tuller).
He is survived by: his daughter-in-law Christine Jean Richards; his grandson Jonathan James Richards (Janet); and his great grandchildren, Samantha and Ailey. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
