He was predeceased by: his parents, H. Stewart Prakel and Margery B. Prakel of Versailles, Ohio.; his parents-in-law, Harry and Nancy Keckley; and his sister-in-law Stephanie Roese.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Sue Keckley of West Jefferson, Ohio.; his children, Austin F. Prakel and Lydia C. Prakel of Columbus; his siblings, Mike (Christy) of Versailles, Ohio and Libby (Steve Connell) of Chicago; and his siblings-in-law, Kathy Ball (John) of Orient, David Keckley (Sandy) of Artemas, PA, Kevin Keckley (Bambi) of West Jefferson and Tim Keckley (Jan) of West Jefferson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
