He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Charles and Lula Leota Smitley (Young); his sisters, Sharon Ann Smitley, Cinda McMillian and Sheila Stotts; and his nephew Bryan Valentine.
He is survived by: his sisters, Mary Pletcher and Virginia "Katie" Millward; and his sons, Michael Smitley and Tony Smith. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
