He was predeceased by: his parents, Merle Schweitzer and Bernadine Schweitzer (Randles); his siblings, Karl Schweitzer and Annie Priest; and his parents-in-law, Martin Powell and Hazel Powell.

He is survived by: his wife Wanda Powell Schweitzer; his children, Amy Watson (Craig Wyman) of Zanesville and David Schweitzer (Alexis Larsen) of Dayton; his grandson Braxton Watson; his sisters, Janice Schneider (Jim), Jeanette Curry (Bob) and Pam Accord (Rolland); and his sisters-in-law, Phyllis Biller (Dick) and Martha Shrigley (Larry). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
