He was predeceased by: his parents, William Butts and Mary Edwards Berndt; his sisters, Deborah Smith and Ramona Rohr; and his stepfather Warren Berndt.
He is survived by: his wife Mildred Rennicker Butts; his daughter Erin Walton (Larry Phillabaum) of Dundee; his siblings, Cheryl Rennicker of New Philadelphia, Karen Veneables of Orrville, Leonard Butts of Orrville and Vic Berndt of Florida; his grandchildren, Michael May (Nikki), Michelle Geer (Mark), Cassandra May and Garr Phillabaum; and his pets, Trinity and Holly. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
