He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Schaar and Grace Schaar (Feller); his wife Mary Bair; his brother Bob Schaar; and his son-in-law Tommy Thompson.
He is survived by: his children, Patricia Thompson of Uhrichsville, Brenda Goehring (Jerry) of Dover and John Schaar Jr. (Melanie) of Sherrodsville; his grandchildren, Ben, Jeremy, Shelby, John III, Kendall and Katie; his sisters, Patti Schaar of Dover and Elizabeth McDougall (Leroy) of Dover; and his sister-in-law Terri Schaar. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 31st 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home- Dover (803 N Wooster Ave, Dover, OH 44622). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, December 31st 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
