He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherron Carney and Bessie Egler Carney; his wife Ruth Brobst; his daughter Kathy Chenevey; and his sisters, Lucille Alleshouse, Wilma Carney and Evelyn VanDyne.
He is survived by: his sons, James Carney Jr. of Dover and Tom Carney (Deb) of Dennison; his son-in-law Steve Chenevey of Dover; and his grandchildren, Amanda, Jacob, Jessica, Ivie and Loren. He is also survived by his 12 great-grandchildren; his five great-great-grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews.
