He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald McKinney and Mary Alyce McKinney (James); his siblings, Robert McKinney and Linda Eaton; his stepfather Bruce Whitmire; and his stepchildren, Amy Burkhart and Brett Burkhart.
He is survived by: his wife Jo Anne McKinney; his children, Denise Milhoan (Steve) and Dennes McKinney (Tammi) of East Sparta; his grandchildren, Stephen Milhoan, Matthew Milhoan (Jenny), Andrew Milhoan, Jessica McKinney and Derek McKinney; his sister Ann Hood (Jack) of Canton; his nieces, Victoria Eaton and Sarah Eddy; his nephew Mark Hood (Rachel); his siblings-in-law, Helen Bailey, Terri Staley and Thomas Arehart (Joyce); his stepgrandchildren, Brandi Shankel (Ben), Brittany Saunders (Kenny) and John Burkhart; and his friends, Jo Anne, David, Tom O'Dell, Dan Cordes, Frank Leighley, Gary Shaub, Carol Ramsey and Gwen Burkhart.
