He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Smith and Etha Smith (Hashbarger); and his siblings, Bernadine Stanfield, Irene Ziegler, Lena Schwab, Walter, Edgar, Donald, Robert and Thomas, Jr..
He is survived by: his children, Randy Smith (Marcia), Cathy Vance (Rick) and Russell Smith (Leigh Ann); his grandchildren, Eric Smith (Lisa), Patrick Smith, Tony Vance (Erin), Nick Vance (Amber), Loni Vance, Levi Vance, Kylie Kessler, Leah Phillips (Michael), Jonathon Smith, Clorissa Smith, Marissa Klingshirn (Branden) and Trevor Smith (Jaydan); and his sisters-in-law, Sharon Francisco-Watson and Marge Smith. He is also survived by 18 great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Deshler Edwin Wood Memorial Library.
