She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Rankin and Irene Kidder Rankin; her husband Charles Gerdau; her brother Ronald Rankin; and her grandson Anthony Ryan Gerdau.
She is survived by: her children, Charles Frederick Gerdau Jr., Patricia Ann Gerdau, Robert Edward Gerdau (Bonnie) and April Lynn Covert (Donald); and her siblings, Bob Rankin, Bill Rankin, Nancy Weekley, Rose Moffo, Mary Ellen Hoffman and Robin Blon. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
