He was predeceased by: his parents, Evelyn Avery (Cleveland) and Joe Avery; his brother Robert Avery; his nieces, Khadijah (Stacy) and Samantha; his parents-in-law, John and Anna Mae McCloud; and his brothers-in-law, Carl Roth and Linn Roth.
He is survived by: his wife Louise Cleveland (Roth); his daughter Carolee Gant of Maryland; his grandsons, Corey West of Maryland and Ryan Preval of Maryland; his siblings, Grover Avery (Susie) of Dover and Lynn Avery of Bedford Heights; and his sister-in-law Connie Roth. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
