He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Paul Shumaker and Esther Shumaker (Clement); his sisters, Mariella Meyer (Eugene) of Findlay, Emily Kleman of Van Wert and Lenore Brooker (Mike); his sister-in-law Dolores Shumaker; his brother William "Bill" Shumaker; and his brother-in-law Paul Kleman. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
