He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Hemker and Agnes Hemker (Wrasman); his wife Rita Regina Hemker (Horstman); his siblings, Mary Pohl (Gilbert) and Carl Hemker (Dolores); and his siblings-in-law, Lydia Hemker, Daniel Baldauf, Joseph Alvarado, John Baldauf and Arnold Liebrecht.

He is survived by: his children, Kenneth Hemker (Anne) of Ft. Jennings, Alice Stechschulte (Daniel) of Ft. Jennings and Laurita Cross (Gerald) of Delphos; his brothers, Herman Hemker (Vera) of Coldwater, Leo Hemker of North Carolina and Ralph; and his grandchildren, Bradley Cross (Echo), Brian Cross (Megan), Brandon Cross (Nikki), Amy Lauf (Jaron), Lance Stechschulte (Billie), Kyle Stechschulte (Jodi), Mindy Siebeneck (Dennis), Dawn Bockrath (Douglas), Jason Hemker (Cici) and Megan Felver Jr. (Dane). He is also survived by twenty great-grandchildren.
