It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nettie Backus of Delphos, Ohio, born in Radford, Virginia, who passed away on October 9, 2021, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Preston Ballard and Ruby Duncan; her son Jerry Wayne Gunter; and her siblings, Alice Mae Duncan, Geneva Lewis, Clovis and Donald Duncan.
She is survived by: her husband Gary L. Backus; her children, Gale Proctor, Sherree Banbury, Denise Gunter, Tina Jones, Wendel Gunter, Michael Gunter and Joyce Mashburn; and her siblings, Eddie, Victor Duncan, Marie Provost and Margaret Duncan. She is also survived by many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren.
