He was predeceased by: his parents, George Thomas McAlister Sr. and Alta Binegar McAlister; his stepson Jeffery Taylor; and his sister Shirley Knox. He is survived by: his wife Shirley McAlister; his children, Karen Powell (Chris) and Michael McAlister (Lucinda); his stepdaughter-in-law Judy Taylor; his grandchildren, Kyle Yohey (Julie), Brandon Yohey (Nikki), Elizabeth McAlister and Eli McAlister (Katlyn); his stepgrandchildren, Scott Taylor (Holly), Mindy Custis-Taylor (Grace), Allie Taylor, Jordan Burns (Tessa), Ashley Webb and James Protsman (Holly); and his brother Ronald McAlister. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren, 11 step-greatgrandchildren.
