He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Colwell and Goldie Colwell (Tizdale); his daughter Judy Ann; his siblings, Dick Colwell (Joann), Donald Colwell (Mary), Elsie Jones, Hazel Giordano and Violet Kitchen (Marvin); and his grandchildren, Nick, Andy Hayes, Paige Harshbarger, Mackenzee and Mercedes Eubanks.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Linda Colwell (Adams); his children, Jackie Harshbarger, Mary Engle (Bob), Pam Willmeth, Nancy Colwell (Bobby), Carl Colwell (Pat), Jeff Colwell (Lori) and Thomas E. Collier (Sharon); his brother Bob Colwell (Louis); and his brother-in-law Ralph Jones. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.
