He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Hesselschwardt and Pauline Hesselschwardt (Gutman); and his siblings, Robert Hesselschwardt, Rick Hesselschwardt and Judy Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Staci Benoy (Eric) of Greensboro, NC, Brent Hesselschwardt (Michelle) of Defiance and Trent Hesselschwardt of Defiance; his wife Phylis Hesselschwardt (Figgins) of Defiance; and his siblings, Jerry Hesselschwardt (Cindy) of Ney, OH, Sharron Peters (Dan) of Stryker, Bonnie Zeedyk of Sherwood and Mary Gustwiller of Defiance.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lawson-Roessner Chapel (1753 S Clinton St, Defiance, OH 43512). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. John Catholic Church (510 Jackson Ave, Defiance, OH 43512).
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the Defiance HS Athletic Program or Elara Caring Hospice.
