He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Hesterman and Mathilde Hesterman (Gerken); his grandson Gregg Gerken; his brother Vernon Hesterman; his stepfather Ernst Behnfeldt; and his stepsiblings, Selma Freytag, Frances Gericke and Earl Behnfeldt.
He is survived by: his wife Marcia Ranzau; his children, Bruce Hesterman (Sherri), Lynnette Gerken (Dennis) and Keith Hesterman (Julie); his grandchildren, Ben, Wes, Katelyn, Lucas, Nate and Hannah; his great grandchildren, Mason, Wren, Maeve, Eden, Maggie, Nora and Kodi; his sister Kathleen Wiemken (Norman); and his sister-in-law Phyllis Hesterman.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, or the Ridgeville Township Fire Department.
