He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Jane Bradley Hines; his daughter Patricia Lee Hines; his parents, James Samuel Hines Sr. and Martha Elizabeth Baker Hines; and his siblings, William, Porter, Marie, Hazel, Thelma, Peggy, Emmalyn (Jackie), Verda Mae and Ralph.
He is survived by: his children, Russell Bradley Hines (Theresa), Lisa Jane Hines Titus (Tim) and Danita Martha Hines (Mark Williams); his grandchildren, Jason Hines (Kathryn), Alec Hines (Nickie), Isaac Hines-Williams, C. J. Titus and Chloe Titus; his great grandchildren, Riley, Brooklyn, Robbie, Wyatt and Philip Hines; and his sisters-in-law, Doris Hines and Linda Bradley Hale (Marvin). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends.
