He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret; and his brothers, Jim and Richard. He is survived by: his son Tim; his grandsons, Seth and Mathias Gitzinger; his sister Ann Gitzinger; his sister-in-law Mary Gitzinger; and his close friend Kerry Suttles.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of Dayton.
