She was predeceased by: her parents, Joe Spells and Mammie Purvis; her son James "Deck" Staten; and her brother James Earl Handy. She is survived by: her children, Billy Staten and Deborah Taylor (Matt); her stepsons, John and Earl Staten; her grandson Juwan Staten; and her great grandchildren, Jayla, Juwan Jr. and Jordan Staten. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc. (2107 N Gettysburg Ave, Dayton, OH 45406). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
