He was predeceased by: his daughter Dawn Marie Leonard; and his parents, George "Bud" Leonard and Winifred Payne (Beddies). He is survived by: his wife Sandra K. Leonard (Peltz); his children, Pame Leonard (Matt Bowlsby) and John Scott Leonard (Leah); his grandchildren, Anthony Leonard (Annie), Carmen Birt (Nathan), Aaron John Gregorio Leonard and John Easton Leonard; his great grandchildren, Aum Marie Leonard and Amias John Leonard; and his siblings, Louis "Buddy" Leonard (Jan) and Lois Copp (Jay).
He held many awards and recognitions, but his proudest achievement was being listed in "Who's Who in Chemistry and Plastics" in 1986 for his contributions to 6 patents in the field of electrochemical and energy conversion.
