He was predeceased by: his parents, James Patterson and Marjorie Patterson; his wife Sharon Patterson; and his sister Rebecca Semons. He is survived by: his children, Joanna Lea-Ellen Keller and James Richard Patterson, III; his grandsons, Hunter and Chase; and his friend Steve Locker.
