He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Murphy and Rose Murphy (Clancy); and his siblings, Thomas Murphy, Patrick Murphy, Michael Murphy, Charles Murphy, Alice Jean Stratton and Lynda Jane Murphy.

He is survived by: his children, Cheryl Wright (Ronald), Gerald Murphy II (Deborah), Bruce Murphy (Veronica), Molly Fuchs (David) and Eric Murphy (Emily); his siblings, Rose Fischbach and James Murphy; and his family Indian Lake. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral Home & Crematory (5555 Philadelphia Dr, Dayton, OH 45415). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, December 19th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Precious Blood Catholic Church (4961 Salem Ave, Dayton, OH 45416).
