He was predeceased by: his parents, John Rakestraw and Tellene Rakestraw; his siblings, William "Billy" Rakestraw, John "Paul" Rakestraw, Joanne Dillard and Vera Lucille Barnes; and his daughter Yolanda Choice (Spears).
He is survived by: his wife Emma Rakestraw; his son Desmond Rakestraw; and his stepchildren, Michael, Todd, Terrance and Chasity Crawford. He is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Ebenezer Baptist Church (5561 Hoover Ave, Dayton, OH 45417). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 at the Dayton National Cemetery (4400 W Third St, Dayton, OH 45428).
