He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond B. Ward and Bess E. Ward (Calvin); his wife Martha Ward (McAlpin); his grandson James Mikael Ward; and his siblings, Raymond Ward Sr., Robert Ward, James Ward and Joan Ward.

He is survived by: his son David Scott Ward Jr.; his stepchildren, Steve Dodd and Tammy Stanley; and his grandchildren, Aaron S. Ward, Cassaundra M. Ward, Anthony C. Scarbrough, Mack Murphy and Ashley Durham. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Zerkle Funeral Home (11900 N Dixie Dr, Tipp City, OH 45371). A graveside service was held on Friday, March 7th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Forest Hills Memorial Gardens (11890 N Dixie Dr, Tipp City, OH 45371).
