She was predeceased by: her parents, Clyde Blackstone and Thelma Blackstone (Vessels); her brother Jack Blackstone; her friends, William Harrison and Fred Sears; and her pet Blackie.

She is survived by: her children, Christine Casey of Dalton and Dwight Newsom of Canton; and her grandchildren, Corine Valentine, Christina Hilley, Meagan Vierheller, Blake Newsom and Courtney Frontz. She is also survived by her five great-grandchildren; her one great-great-grandchild; and her nieces and nephew.

Sandy's family requests that, instead of flowers, donations in her memory be made to any good animal shelter.
