He was predeceased by: his parents, Ewald Bartel and Lydia Bartel. He is survived by: his wife Linda S. (Stauffer); his children, Mark Bartel (Laura) of Twinsburg, Heidi Schlabach of Dalton and Lawrence Bartel (Amy) of Oxford; his sister Nely Harris (Larry) of Wooster; and his grandchildren, Meg Bartel, Sam Bartel, Evan Bartel, Jack Bartel, Nate Bartel, Meredith Bartel, Justina Schlabach, Latrice Schlabach, Jaden Schlabach, Jens Bartel and Lydia Bartel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Erwin's honor to Mennonite Central Committee at MCC, PO Box 500, Akron, PA 17501-0500.
