He was predeceased by: his parents, John Mathias and Rita Mathias (Seibert); his daughter Joanie Straley (Bill); his son-in-law James Tatham; and his siblings, Robert, Thomas, John, Gerald, Margaret Wickard and Katherine Cupp.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Mathias (Vaughn); his daughters, Lisa Noward (Kevin) of Waterville, Ohio and Jennifer Mathias of Maumee, Ohio; his siblings, Frank Mathias (Pat), James Mathias (Doris) and Susan Cable; his son-in-law Bill Straley; his grandchildren, Chad Ryder (Holly), Tyler Tatham (Kristen), Drew Dewulf (Megan), Trent Tatham (Ashley), Bridget Dewulf, Seth McCartney and Parker Scannell; and his great grandchildren, Aiden Tatham, Lakelyn, Loudon Ryder, Cage Moody, Lydia Dewulf, Callie Robinette, Maverick Robinette, Jack and Sis. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Smith-Crates Funeral Home (515 N Main St, North Baltimore, OH 45872). A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 19th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Family Catholic Church (115 E Cherry St, North Baltimore, OH 45872).
