He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, George William Wesley and Ruby Irene Rogers Simmons; his children, Elizabeth Griffin (Jacob) and Jeffrey Simmons (Jennifer); and his siblings, Romana Nicholson, Ruby Cottrell (Calvin), Bobbie Byrd (Joe), Eugene Simmons, George Leroy Simmons and Ida May Buckhannon. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
