He was predeceased by: his parents, Ronald Kinney and Margaret Kinney (Reider); his uncle Harold Kinney (Susan) of Junction City; and his grandparents, Frank and Elizabeth Kinney.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda Kinney (Durant); his children, Richard Kinney Jr. (Chris) and Beth Kinney; his grandchildren, Lane Kinney, Paige Emory, Chase Brown and Hunter Brown; his great grandchild Brantley Brown of Crooksville; his nephew Richie Savage Jr. of Crooksville; and his brother-in-law Bruce Durant of Zanesville.
