He was predeceased by: his parents, Freelin Akers and Willie Mellie Akers (Gilkerson); his siblings, William Roy (Kathy Akers) and Jenny Priest; his wife Mary Phillips; his children, Jim Hatten and Brenda Phillips; and his siblings, Martha Jane Hooser, Molly Smith, Alma Brickey, Jay, Homer, Ervin, Doc, Andrew, Garland Ray, Corene and Betty Akers.
He is survived by: his former wife Carol Sickle; his children, Wade Keith Akers, Janet K. Akers (Larry Diosy), Jennifer (Scott Miller), Brooke Iannetta and Teresa (Keith Leibee); his grandchildren, Robert Wade Rininger, Nikole Lowe, Jordan Hall, Jeremiah Scheider, Joshua Scheider, Dominic Iannetta, John Iannetta, Loutino Marrero, Matthew, Leibee, Michael Leibee and Kathryn Kring; and his stepchildren, Steven Sickle, Kimberly (Alan Blevins), Michelle (Mike Finan) and Janet (Joe Kohler). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Rittman Community Freewill Baptist Church (346 N Main St, Rittman, OH 44270). A funeral service was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wade's church, Rittman Community Freewill Baptist Church.
