He was predeceased by: his father Walter Earl; his wife Anna Mae Reed; his daughter Connie Colich; and his sisters, Jennie Clevidence and Louise Simons.

He is survived by: his sons, Robert Jr. Franks (Helen) and Bruce Franks; his son-in-law David Colich; his grandchildren, Amy McPherson (Dale), Bill Winkler (Carrie), Kelly Sigler (Jake), Ben Franks and Dustin Franks; and his sister Bonnie Thompson. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren.
