He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Hartzler and Pauline Hartzler (Winkler); and his sister-in-law Sandy Hartzler. He is survived by: his wife Karen; his children, Brad Hartzler of Rittman, Tonia Hanshaw of Creston, Scott Hartzler (Rachel) of Bastrop, TX, Jody Aubrey (Adam) of Sterling and Lane Hartzler (Lanae) of Sunbury; and his siblings, Kenneth Hartzler (Jane) of Marshallville, Benjamin Hartzler of Rittman, Catharine Hartzler of Rittman, Lynell Palitto (Ronald) of Wadsworth, Dean Hartzler (Jan) of Rittman and Nancy Bauman of Sterling. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chippewa Church of the Brethren.
